Our food truck is open Thursday - Sunday and has the same operating hours as the tasting room on those days. They offer charcuterie boards, steak skewers, pizza and salads.

Michael Ros Winery is a family-owned boutique winery focused on providing high quality 100% Texas wine in a relaxed and welcoming Hill Country environment. Our first vineyard was planted in 2018 in the High Plains and was followed by the Fredericksburg location in 2021. Our tasting room is conveniently located just 1 mile off of Hwy 290 where the hustle and bustle melts away as you are surrounded by nature and a welcoming, hospitality focused team. We are proud to be part of the Texas wine community and are committed to being eco-conscious and expanding our wine family to include both locals and visitors.

Tim Drake, began his career in 1999 while living in Washington State. His first job was in the QA department with Chateau Ste. Michelle Wine Estates at the Columbia Crest facility. He quickly realized he wanted to be on the winemaking side of production, so he transferred to Chateau Ste. Michelle where he went to work in the cellar. For the next several years, he went from those large scale beginnings to smaller, high-end boutique wineries, making wine alongside some of Washington’s best. Those experiences from the cellar to Cellar Master and on to Assistant Winemaker readied him for the leap to Head Winemaker, and it was around that time that he and his family decided they needed a change.

In 2010, they left Washington State and headed to Texas. Over the last fifteen years, Tim has been Head Winemaker or Consulting Winemaker for several Texas wineries. In 2021 we asked him to join our team as the Head Winemaker here at Michael Ros Winery. Tim's skill at blending the art and science of winemaking has resulted in amazing award winning wines.

Rosann is originally from Florida. Rosann and Mike have 3 adult children and have lived in Texas since 1999. Rosann has held sales leadership positions in several Fortune 50 companies. The majority of her career was working for organizations in the Consumer Product Goods space. Her last position was leading a national sales team that sold food and beverage solutions for large organizations. Rosann stepped away from Corporate America to be dedicated to the winery.

Rosann has her WSET II Certification. She has taken several marketing and tasting room focused classes through VESTA*. Rosann has an extensive marketing and sales background and looks forward to applying her knowledge to the tasting room. Having an outstanding consumer experience is something Rosann is very passionate about and having a tasting room of wine knowledgeable staff is a must! The wine has to be great…but so does the experience and service.

Rosann Mitrione

As the son of a career military officer, Mike lived in several places until their family settled in Virginia following his father’s retirement from the military. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to work with several organizations in varying capacities within the technology space. Mike is a currently the Chief Technical Officer for an education company and is passionate about wine. Even though he works full time, he is very involved in the winery.

Mike has his WSET II Certification. He has taken numerous online viticulture and enology classes through VESTA* and is one class short of having his enology degree. Mike and our winemaker have collaborated on the vineyard design and the varietals we planted to ensure that our long term vision of being a 100% estate grown winery is attainable.

Mike Mitrione

This medium bodied wine has a beautiful garnet color. On the nose you will smell cherry, tobacco leaf, Swedish licorice and capicola. Flavors of wild cherry, forest loam and fresh cranberry fill your mouth as you taste this classic Italian (Texas grown) wine.

Looking for a big, bold red? Look no further...this is your wine! It's the perfect wine to consume now or lay down for a few years. It's fine grained tannins are perfectly balanced with acidity for a full bodied wine that hits your whole palate. Dark fruits led by ripe plum and boysenberry, licorice, baking cocoa and a sweet smokiness fully embrace your nose and palate followed by a hint of coffee on the finish.

This Italian varietal won't disappoint! Known in Italy as the "little sweet one" it's anything but sweet. You will be pleasantly surprised by the violets, white pepper, red currant, pomegranate, with a hint of vanilla and cocoa on the finish. This is an easy drinking medium bodied wine with good acidity. 

Rosé

Our 2023 Sangiovese Rosé delvers a pink grapefruit color with bright acidity and medium body. Subtle melon, white strawberry, watermelon, grapefruit zest along with undertones of minerality and limestone make this a refreshing wine that will certainly be one of your go-to easy drinking wines.



Sangiovese Rosé

A rose for the fruit lover! Mountain strawberry, white raspberry, limestone and white peach meet you as you inhale the smells of this fruit forward rose. With the first sip, you will experience strawberry, peach, lime zest and watermelon jolly rancher.  What a refreshing rosé with a soft mouth-feel. Summer awaits you in this bottle of Malbec Rosé.

Trebbiano Blend

White

The 2023 Bisaccia is a white wine blend. This blend is led by Trebbiano so you get some of those expected pear notes but with the addition of Albarino and Pinot Grigio, you get a brighter acidity and more citrus and tropical notes. You will get citrus, pear, green apple, rambuton along with an almond finish. Perfect for your next cookout.

This Spanish varietal is known for is aromatic intensity. You will get plenty of pear, both Bartlett and Asian along with honeydew melons. Upon your first sip, you will discover a balanced, medium bodied wine with light acidity and a medium finished. The flavors have a few surprises as you taste the pear, you will also get a hint of bubble gum and early apricot. 

Bright and expressive, our 2023 Viognier captures the vibrant spirit and aromatic depth of the Texas High Plains.

It opens with aromas of lemon meringue, Granny Smith apple, and a delicate hint of honeysuckle. On the palate, layers of Meyer lemon custard and ripe pear unfold with a smooth, rounded texture and a refreshing lift.

The finish is clean and elegant, leaving behind a lingering impression of citrus and stone fruit.

This Roussanne was aged in stainless steel tanks for 4 months.  The resulting bright, fresh wine has a straw color with medium acidity. You will get floral on the nose…think white gardenia in early spring. Your first sip will deliver early season fresh fruits such as golden delicious apple, white peach, apricot, candied lemon zest, and a hint of lime on the finish.

This traditional French varietal has made its home in Texas! With bright acidity and refreshing flavors this is a perfect wine for summer. On the nose you will get pear and honey and the pallet delivers an array of lemon, citrus and green apple jolly rancher. 

Picpoul

Your perfect light refreshing wine has arrived! This Pinot Grigio is a light bodied, easy drinking wine. It's pale lemon color hints at the summer notes that will unfold as you take your first sips. Your palate will discover a wine that has good minerality, limestone, honeydew, pear, and a slight lemon zest. 

Brut

This Malbec sparkling wine was done with "méthode traditionelle" and is named for the brightest star in the sky the night Michael Ros Winery opened our doors. Meet Vega Rosé. A bright, playful rosé with a bold pink color and a steady stream of lively bubbles. The sparkle is just right—enough to keep things festive, but never overpowering.

Vega Rosé

Trebbiano is one of the most widely planted varietals in the world, especially Italy. This Italian white wine exhibits Asian pear, honeydew melon, green apple, pineapple core and passion fruit on the nose. Those same elements can be experienced on the palette along with some good salinity and musk melon. The acidity gives you a refreshing, yet flavorful wine and makes it an ideal wine to pair with spicy Texas cuisine. 

Looking for your next must have wine? You might just find it in this well balanced wine from our Michael Ros Vineyards. This delightful well balanced wine exhibits pineapple, melon, straw and a hint of green and jalapenõ peppers on the nose. You will discover these same characteristics as you taste it along with clay minerality and Texas red grapefruit. 

A full-bodied wine with refreshing acidity and raw silk tannins.

Our 2020 Tempranillo went through extended maceration and is a soft but medium bodied, well balanced wine with bright acidity and substantial tannins. On the nose you will find dark plum, cedar, earthy undertones and violet. On the palate you find white pepper, licorice, herbs, earthy spices, and a slight hint of mocha on the finish.

Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

This Merlot-dominant Bordeaux blend is a true delight for any dinner table, crafted in the style of Bordeaux’s famed Right Bank. The nose opens with alluring aromas of black licorice, warm sandalwood, and fresh red fruit. On the palate, a supple medium-plus body carries vibrant flavors of cherry, ripe blueberry, and juicy plum, balanced by a smooth, lingering finish. Elegant yet approachable, it’s a perfect companion for both weeknight meals and special gatherings.

Viognier Blend

This elegant white blend of Texas-grown Viognier (52%) and Roussanne (48%) offers a perfect balance of richness and freshness. Aged partially in new oak, it greets the nose with fragrant notes of honeysuckle, ripe peach, and toasted almond. On the palate, layers of apricot, baked pear, and a touch of vanilla unfold over a supple, medium-bodied texture. The subtle oak influence adds a hint of spice and a creamy finish, making this wine as versatile at the dinner table as it is captivating on its own.

Windswept

Our 2023 Texas High Plains Grenache shines with bright cherry and strawberry layered with a touch of blackberry from Alicante Bouschet. Aged 19 months in Russian oak, it carries subtle spice and cocoa with a smooth, lingering finish. Elegant yet approachable, it’s a true taste of Texas High Plains terroir.
